WHY YOU FEEL LIKE CRAP AFTER THE LAST 2 YEARS AND HOW TO CHANGE THAT

Written by: Jennifer Duranczyk, 16 year Bodyworker, Somatic Educator and owner of Fusion Whole Body Recovery

Let’s have an honest conversation here, if you are reading this you feel like crap. The last 2 years have beaten you down emotionally, physically and spiritually. If NOT, congrats! You are the few of many. You may or may not know I own a holistic recovery center for pain and injury, Fusion Whole Body Recovery in Colleyville Texas. Over the last 2 years we have seen a huge influx in dis EASE coming into our office. Whether physically, functionally or in mental health. These years have been HARD. I would like to discuss two subjects on the matter. ONE – How we got here. And TWO – What do we do now to find peace in these areas again. And let’s go ahead and dump the word COVID right here. Say it now whether it’s in your head or out loud… COVID COVID COVID. Dump it out and clear your mind because yes it was a major catalyst to the communitive stress, we have been experiencing, but not the main reason we are here now. The main reasons are: Mind Body Awareness and Accountability for our own health.

THE SUMMER SOMATICS SERIES IS HERE!!!

RELEASING THE BODY FROM CENTER TO PERIPHERY
Somatic Movement classes are series of highly effective neuromuscular movements guided by a trained somatic educator. The movements re-educate chronically habitually held muscles to release, which then alleviates pain, improves range of motion and overall function of the students body. Because it works directly with the brain and the body, results last much longer than stretching and foam rolling. The student also gains the tools and movement knowledge to continue the work at home.

June 8th will be: RELEASING THE BACK MUSCLES – great for back pain, sciatica, Range of motion issues with squats and bending forward and backward

June 22nd will be: RELEASING THE ABDOMINAL MUSCLES – also great for back pain, rounded shoulders and ROM issues in shoulders and neck, stress and stomach issues.

  • What is an ensõ and Why is it Fusion’s Logo?
    06/29/2016 - fusionwholebodyrecovery 0 Comments
WHAT IS AN ENSÕ AND WHY IS IT FUSION’S LOGO?

In zen Buddhism, an ensõ is a circle that is hand-drawn in one or two uninhibited brush strokes to express a moment the mind is free to let the body create. A celebration of imperfection, the circle is often left open.

Here at Fusion we celebrate our and our clients’ uniqueness on a daily basis. We recognize that every person who walks through our door has their own journey to pain free and we are excited to help them along the way. The ensõ is our symbol that celebrates the strength necessary to take that journey.

  • How can Fusion help this HORRIBLE allergy season?

HOW CAN FUSION HELP THIS HORRIBLE ALLERGY SEASON?
As you may have noticed, this spring not only came early, but also brought a torrent of allergens to our area. We have had many clients come in complaining of stuffy noses, headaches, mucus, and sinus infections and little did they know, WE CAN HELP!

    Step 1: Far Infrared Treatments
This treatment really gets your allergy detox started. Sit in our sauna for 15-30 minutes to increase circulation, start the relaxation process of your tight neck and shoulder muscles and sweat out some toxins!

    Step 2: Massage
Many Americans rely primarily on conventional treatments, including antihistamines and steroids, both of which can have some adverse side effects. Massage therapists, however, can help relieve some allergy symptoms by reducing stress, increasing circulation, releasing muscle tension and reprogramming the body’s panic reaction, which can exacerbate symptoms.

    Step 3:  Cryo
The release of histamines when you are suffering from allergies causes inflammation of the ear, nose, and throat. This inflammation causes stuffiness, headaches, and pressure. Our cryotherapy sauna can dramatically reduce this inflammatory response, which will allow the body to calm and make your symptoms much less severe.

  • You Have Questions, We Have Answers
    12/03/2015 - fusionwholebodyrecovery 0 Comments
YOU HAVE QUESTIONS, WE HAVE ANSWERS

What is the difference between a traditional sauna vs. Infrared Sauna?
Infrared heat is very gentle on the skin, similar to what you would expect from the sun’s rays. Traditional saunas operate in an excess of 200°F, while infrared heat operates at a comfortable 100°-150°F.  Traditional saunas heat the air instead of the body directly, which can make the session uncomfortable for the client.  In contrast, infrared heat penetrates human tissue instead of just the surface of the skin, and more effectively helps to detoxify the body and remove harmful toxins.

What are the health benefits of the Infrared Sauna?
Infrared saunas are an effective tool for natural healing and prevention and can help to provide some of the following benefits:  detoxification, pain relief, improved circulation, and weight loss.

What do you charge to use it?
The use of our infrared sauna is complimentary for our clients who have a current package/membership, or it’s a nominal fee for those who don’t – reserve your space now as the temps begin to drop!

  • The Holidays Are Upon Us, Don’t Forget Your Self-Care Needs

THE HOLIDAYS ARE UPON US, DON’T FORGET YOUR SELF-CARE NEEDS

The holidays are upon us and that means for many of us non-stop errands, cooking, cleaning, etc.  During this hectic time, we tend to forget that our bodies need a little break to recover from all of the increased activity.  Without self-care, the body will begin to breakdown and increase pain and likelihood of injury.

Our belief is that self-care is the key to long term relief of chronic pain and injury prevention. We offer an area that allows our clients to take advantage of beneficial holistic therapies that improve each individuals own self care regime.  We provide this as a bonus for our package clients or for a small nominal fee for non-package holders.

So take a step back, and do a little self-care.  You will thank yourself and enjoy the holidays with your loved ones pain and injury free.

    09/23/2015 - fusionwholebodyrecovery 0 Comments
FAQS FROM OUR CLIENTS: WHAT IS CORRECT CRYOTHERAPY PROTOCOL?
    • Blood pressure MUST be taken prior to every cryotherapy session due to the vasoconstriction of blood vessels, which increases blood pressure.  Anyone with uncontrolled hypertension will NOT be allowed to proceed.
    • All first sessions are limited to 2 minutes to evaluate the client’s initial reaction to the intense cold.  This is a client safety measure, so there is no exception to this rule, regardless of prior experience.
    • While in the unit, a client is required to wear cotton socks, gloves, and slippers. In addition, men must wear cotton boxer briefs.  For the individual’s safety, we MUST protect all extremities!  No jewelry or metals can be worn below the neck.  Lotion and moisturizers should not be applied within an hour prior to a session.
    • Children under the age of 14 are NOT permitted to use the cryosauna.  Most children are unable to regulate body temperature until they have reached the age of maturation.  Alternative treatments can be provided upon request.

SWEET CASES FOR SWEET FACES: FOSTER CARE FUNDRAISER
In partnership with Luke’s Locker Southlake & nonprofit Together We Rise, Fusion Whole Body Recovery successfully raised enough funds to purchase & decorate 50 Sweet Cases. Sweet Cases are special duffle bags filled with stuffed animals, a hygiene kit, coloring books, crayons, etc., which replace the trash bags given when a child enters into the foster care system.  The bags will be distributed to local foster children with the assistance of Circles of Care.

Giving back has always been important to us at Fusion, and this is a cause that is personal for co-owner Kristen Colosi.  And quite frankly, foster kids don’t deserve trash bags! Typically when a foster child is entering the system, they are given two trash bags for the few belongings that they do have.  And this is how they move from home to home.  By partnering with Together We Rise, we are helping to make a memorable change.
